What You Need to Know

When a child is ill, parents are reluctant to leave the hospital. The Ronald McDonald Family Room ("Family Room") is an area set aside inside the Children’s Hospital, LHSC, to serve as a quiet rest area for family members of children in hospital for treatment and care. The London Family Room offers a special place of respite, relaxation and privacy within the walls of the hospital, yet parents are just steps from their child’s bedside. It replicates a home-like atmosphere when a parent needs a break from the hospital environment.
While Ronald McDonald House London is for families located outside the city, the London Family Room can be used by any family in LHSC with a sick child.

Who Can Use the Room

While our Ronald McDonald House London serves families who travel from out of town for medical care, a Family Room can serve dual roles. Families staying at the House, even if it is close to the hospital, often welcome the opportunity to grab a quick snack or rest without leaving the hospital. The Family Room also serves local families who may live near the medical facility but do not want to leave the hospital or their seriously ill child for a meal, shower or even a night.
